19 Months Old

It's hard to believe that Gavin is 19 months old already. He is definitely a typical toddler. He is into everything and full speed ahead. His vocabulary is growing every day. He also likes to sing and dance. He likes to sing "Twinkle, Twinkle," "Itsy Bitsy Spider" and "The Wheels on the Bus." He is definitely a delight to be around, and truly a blessing.

Gavin really likes to play his drum. He just recently started the head bobbing. His daddy thinks it is hilarious. I think we have a rock star in our future.

Back to School

This was Gavin's first week back at Mother's Day Out. He was very excited to go the first day. But Daddy said he cried Wednesday and Thursday morning when he dropped him off. But I think he adjusts well after a few minutes there. He is always happily playing when Mommy picks him up. Mommy is just glad that she doesn't have drop-off duty!
Ready to go.
Afraid that Daddy was going to leave him.

So excited about school!

Road trip

Last weekend we took a road trip to Muncie, Indiana for my cousin Justin's wedding. I was really nervous about the long ride in the car, but Gavin did great. I don't have a ton of pictures, but here are a few. Aunt Yaya took more than Mommy did, so I'll have to get some from her.
Mommy had to keep Gavin occupied during the outdoor wedding ceremony. Gavin seemed interested in these apples.

Let's go to the zoo

Since it was such a cool day today (only in the 70s), Gavin and I decided to visit the zoo. The weather was wonderful, and Gavin really enjoyed seeing all the animals. The funniest part of the day occurred when we were riding the carousel. When the ride ended, Gavin said "Uh, oh" like it wasn't supposed to stop. He kept saying "uh, oh" since he didn't understand that the ride was just over, not accidentally stopped. He then of course got upset when we had to exit the ride. But he got over it quickly when he ran back to the water area and started playing.
Such a sweet face
Gavin was "Ready" for the train ride to begin.
This is the new 2 1/2 week old giraffe and it's mommy.
Gavin checking out the tiger, or "Aubie" as Gavin was referring to it.
This was Gavin's first time playing in the water area. We saved this area for last, and then rode home in just a dry diaper, since his clothes were soaking wet. I took the video below with the camera. Gavin loved splashing and playing around.

Better late than never...

Mimi gave us some old clothes of Daddy's a few months ago. I had great plans on putting this outfit on Gavin for the 4th of July. Well of course, I forgot all about it until the other day. So, I put it on and took some pictures anyway. It fit Gavin perfectly. I'm not sure why corduroy was the fabric of choice for a July outfit - I guess that was the "in" thing 30 years ago.
God Bless America
Since it was so hot last week, Gavin and I decided to have some fun indoors. We visited the McWane Center again and had a great time. We saw lots of exhibits that we didn't get to see last time. I love these 2 pictures, because they show how much Gavin was concentrating on building things with blocks and pipes.

It's too hot for clothes

Is it just me, or is it hot outside?? Gavin had been playing outside this morning, and got in his pool. So of course his clothes were wet by the time we came back inside. So Mommy let him have a few minutes of "freedom" before we put some clothes back on. I thought this picture was cute because he is just having his snack in the buff!

Growing up so fast...

Gavin went for his 18 month check up Monday and got a great report. He weighs 24lbs 14oz (40%) and is 33.25 inches tall (75%). His head circumference is also in the 75%, so he has plenty of room for all those brains of his!! He had to get one shot, which he didn't appreciate at all. Dr. Anderson was pleased with his progress. We hope to not have to visit him again until his 2 year check-up, but who knows what sickness wintertime will bring.

Playdate at the Smith's

Sunday evening we went over to the Smith's (Katie, Chris and Caroline) for a cookout. The kids had a great time playing together. We look forward to seeing everyone again soon.

You can't see in the picture, but Gavin was holding a chip in his left hand the entire time he was in the swing.
